EDUCATION AND TRAINING SPECIAL ORIENTATIONS COORDINATOR

The Special Orientations Coordinator is a temporary position reporting directly to the Education and Training Department Program Coordinator during orientation planning, and to the orientation Site Director during the orientations. YFU USA is committed to providing students with comprehensive educational programming which helps to prepare them for their unique exchange experience. The Special Orientations Coordinator is a key link in that goal and the quality of their efforts bears significantly and directly upon the quality of the students' experience.

DATES OF SERVICE
• February through April -- 20 hrs per week
• May through Mid-August -- 22-36 hrs per week

LOCATION OF SERVICE
• YFU USA National Office, Bethesda, Maryland
• On site at orientations in the Washington, DC area

PURPOSE OF POSITION
• Serve as a key member of the Education and Training Department by playing a leadership role in planning, coordinating and implementing 2-3 day orientations for American students studying abroad and for German and Finnish students studying in the US.

 

District Coordinator for Recruitment & Development

Summary of Position:

The DCRD (Volunteer Recruitment) supports and supplements efforts in the field to aid in the growth of program quality within the key areas targeted for development. The Coordinator works closely with the District Director and with the District staff to successfully enhance the volunteer/Host Family/American Outbound (AO) recruitment and development strategy within the targeted areas of the District. The DCRD will report to the District Director.

Goal: Primary goal is to build a supportive volunteer base to help place every international student with a quality host family and secure placement within the school in a timely fashion.

 

National Marketing Director

Youth For Understanding USA is a non-profit international student exchange organization with 60 years of experience within the industry. YFU USA currently is seeking a dynamic, results-driven individual to lead all marketing and communications efforts for this national team.

Through development of integrated marketing solutions (direct, broadcast and digital), the role of National Marketing Director is a unique position at Youth For Understanding USA (YFU USA) that will have a direct impact on increasing strategic organizational branding and visibility. This leader will contribute to the development of robust YFU USA communities of host families, students, volunteers and schools. This role calls for strong collaboration and consultation with the national professional staff, educators, volunteers, families, students, corporations and our international partners. It will provide strategic creative marketing direction for the organization as it drives to increase program quality and strengthen its domestic market share, and global reputation. This position reports to the President of YFU USA.

International Student Exchange Placement Intern

Internship: Many positions available.

Compensation: $100 stipend per month (up to maximum of $600) to offset incidental costs

Dates of Service: Spring – Summer 2012 (Approximate dates: February 21st - August 31st)

Work Schedule: Availability of 12 – 20 hours per week; flexible schedule. (Preference will be given to candidates willing to commit to at least 16 hours per week.)

Seeking: Undergraduate or Graduate students or recent graduates with major or degree in:
International Studies, Marketing, Sales, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism/Mass
Communications, Education, Foreign Language or related field.

Required: Intern must have own laptop or desktop computer, cell phone, and transportation to
worksite. Selected candidates must successfully pass criminal background check.

Purpose of Position: Youth For Understanding (YFU) is a leader in the field of international student exchange, with sixty years experience in inbound and outbound programming. The International Student Exchange Placement Interns will assist YFU USA fields in the International Student (IS) placement effort. Interns may also help organize the pre-departure orientations for American Overseas (AO) students and the re-entry/post-arrival orientations for international students.

Field Director - New York City-New Jersey-Philadelphia

YFU USA is seeking a Northeast District office-based (Cambridge, MA) Field Director to continue developing and working with current and prospective volunteers in the NYC-NJ-Phila field for international student placement and host family recruitment. Achievements include building volunteer involvement and oversight, recruiting host families and student placement, nurturing school relations, and developing the field to incorporate additional student placements, focusing within this field. The Field Director position provides the volunteer oversight, planning, marketing and administration in an assigned geographic field to deliver a quality program.

Publications and Media Intern

The Publications and Media Intern is a temporary position reporting directly to the Education and Training Department Program Coordinator. YFU USA is committed to providing students with comprehensive educational programming which helps to prepare them for their unique exchange experience. The Publications and Media Intern is a key link in that goal and the quality of their efforts bears significantly and directly upon the quality of the student's experience.

DATES OF SERVICE

  • September through Mid-December (Potential to continue through to Spring 2011)
  • Approximately 8-12 hours per week

PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • Serve as a key member of the Education and Training Department by playing a major role in the updating of Education and Training publications and online media, both in content and design.

 

 

 

 

Field Director - Northeast District - New England

ROLE
This position manages the overall field success for student placement, host family recruitment, school relations, field development and AO promotion. This includes volunteer management, planning and administrative oversight to several volunteers in an assigned geographic field. Ensure YFU program activities are carried out in accordance with YFU policies and procedures.
