Come to the USA

Prospective Students

Studying abroad is more than a global education, it’s a personal education. Through an intercultural exchange, you’ll learn more about yourself through the experiences you encounter.

YFU offers high school and college students a unique opportunity to study in the US.  As a YFU exchange student, you'll gain the knowledge, skills, and insights that will prepare you to be a global citizen. Even the smallest interactions with your friends, teachers, and community members will teach you something new - about the people, the culture and, of course, yourself.

If living in the United States for a year, semester or a few weeks while learning about a totally different culture sounds like your kind of challenge, then it's time to come to the USA with YFU.

YFU Traditional Homestay Program

For 65 years, YFU has welcomed high school students to live with a host family and attend a local high school. Today, nearly 2,000 YFU high school students come to the U.S. each year from more than 70 countries. As a YFU exchange student, you'll go to high school, become a member of a caring host family, and learn about the United States as a resident, not a tourist.

YFU Education Select F1 Visa High School Program

Open to students without YFU offices in their home country or to students eager to access academic benefits that may not be available via our traditional homestay program such as extended study beyond one year, AP or college level coursework or an American High School diploma.  Select from private, public or boarding schools from 40+ choices across the US.  Academically focused, these programs are a wonderful alternative for students who may not have access to YFU in their home countries but still wish to have the YFU experience.

YFU Summer Cultural and Study Tours

Join YFU students from around the globe on a two-week adventure to the USA.  Students receive project-based English language instruction two days per week and participate in visits to cultural and community sites and events chaperoned by YFU volunteer while spending your evenings with your YFU host family.

Young Adult Program (17-23 YEARS OLD)

Community College Program

Community colleges in the US are 2-year schools for post-secondary education that serve as a pathway for University study.  For more than 20 years, the Community College Program has welcomed YFU's young adult participants to pursue a mix of English as a Second Language and academic coursework for a semester, a year, or a two-year Associate Degree at our partner community colleges.  Are you ready to experience college life in the US?

Short Term Culture and Language Program (18+)

Interested in US culture and language? This July, travel to Washington, DC and join fellow classmates 18 and older from around the world for a two-week program in the nation’s capital! For English language beginners, this is an opportunity to further build and perfect your written and conversational skills.
