Amy Ballard

With more than 23 years managing professional, college, and youth exchanges in the international education industry, Amy Ballard oversees YFU’s Exchange Experience Division – comprising Education & Training, Support Services, Volunteer Programs, and Quality Assurance.  Over 13 years, she has served YFU in progressively responsible capacities to develop programs, secure grants, and maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance for YFU. She plays an essential role in the procurement and retention of mission-critical CYBX, FLEX, and YES grants and has functioned as the organizational liaison among grant students, political entities, embassies, industry colleagues, oversight agencies and the US Department of State.

Vice President of the Exchange Experience

Amy volunteered with YFU for several years before joining the staff.   Prior to joining YFU, Amy designed and managed US Department of State International Visitor programs as a Program Officer with the Academy for Educational Development and advised Kuwaiti students on their US post-secondary school studies with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education.  She currently is a member of the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET) board.

Amy earned a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a Master’s of International Administration from the School for International Training. Thanks to her parents hosting exchange students and international visitors, Amy was a host sibling many times over.  This inspired her be an exchange student to Denmark in high school and France in university.  She is a proud to be a parent on both sides of exchange – by hosting eight students from seven countries and by sending off her three sons to high school, gap year, and university study abroad programs.
