Ambassador Laurie S. Fulton

Laurie Fulton served as U.S. Ambassador to Denmark from July 2009 to February 2013. She recently retired as a partner in the law firm Williams & Connolly LLP, where she practiced law for over two decades before and after her ambassadorship, representing clients in civil litigation, government investigations, and white-collar criminal defense. As Ambassador, she co-founded Green Partnerships for Growth, a public-private network of Danish and US businesses in the sustainable energy and green technology sectors. Ambassador Fulton organized and co-hosted the Conference on the Role of Women in Global Security for the US and Nordic-Baltic countries in October 2010. Ambassador Fulton earned a JD from Georgetown Law and a BA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Among other awards, she is the recipient of the Pioneering Peace Builder Award by the National Peace Foundation (2002) and the Grand Cross of the Danish Royal Order of Dannebrog (2013). She served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the US Institute of Peace from 2004 to 2008.
