YFU USA spreads message of intercultural exchange at NASCAR Ford Championship.

Bethesda, MD (November 12, 2013) – Youth For Understanding USA (YFU) is excited to bring intercultural exchange to NASCAR’s Ford Championship event this weekend (November 15th-17th) at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Starting Friday through the entire Championship event weekend, a ten-second YFU public service announcement will air on the Speedway’s jumbo-tron six times an hour for 12 hours each day.

YFU will be providing branded hats, t-shirts and other free giveaways on a first come basis to the nearly 1 million expected attendees to promote opportunities for US teens to study abroad, and to share the benefits intercultural exchange also provides to host families and volunteers.

This past July, YFU launched a new website and related marketing materials specifically designed to capture the transformative effect of intercultural exchange. This opportunity organized by Grazie Media will help to share the YFU message to fans from all across the US.  It is estimated that 20 percent of the spectators will have traveled more than 500 miles to be in attendance.

“We’re thrilled that YFU will have a presence at NASCAR’s Ford Championship weekend. NASCAR doesn’t appeal to just one specific ‘type’ of fan but rather, appeals to individuals from across a spectrum of different ages and household types. As part of a rich cultural exchange experience, YFU prides itself in matching students and host families from diverse walks of life. A key component of the exchange experience is to participate in a family’s unique traditions and perspectives,” said YFU Director of Marketing & Communications, Erin Helland.
