Sandra Holmberg, YFU USA Director of Education and Training, joined YFU in January of 2015. She brings over ten years of international education experience managing education programs, and developing training materials and curriculum.

Sandra Holmberg joined YFU in January of 2015 as the Director of Education and Training. She brings over ten years of international education experience managing education programs, and developing training materials and curriculum. Her passion for cross-cultural learning is rooted in her experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal, and her work as a cultural orientation trainer in Ghana. Spearheading Education and Training efforts, the E&T team works with volunteers and staff to carry out orientations throughout the US for students and families; revises publications and training materials; and manages training programs for volunteers. Sandra is also tasked with the development of YFU’s Learning Management System to create more learning opportunities for YFU stakeholders including students, families, volunteers, and staff. Prior to YFU, Sandra was as Program Officer with Winrock International. In this role, she managed education programs throughout Africa and developed teacher training tools, girls’ mentoring curriculum, as well as child protection training materials for community volunteers. As a Peace Corps Fellow, Ms. Holmberg earned her Masters in Secondary Education at George Washington University. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two dogs.
