Director of Support Services
As a part of the Exchange Experience Unit, Bienert and her team are dedicated to giving every participant of our programs - students, host families and schools - a rewarding experience through developing individualized solutions to the challenges and learning opportunities that may come up along the way. A YFU alum herself, Bienert has served in many roles within the YFU network. The German native was a YFU CBYX exchange student in Lincoln, Nebraska. Inspired by her experience to help other exchange students, upon her return to Germany, Bienert served as a YFU volunteer until completing her university degree. Upon graduation, she joined YFU Germany’s staff as a Counseling Specialist, preparing young Germans for their exchange experiences through orientations and trainings. Ever the exchange student, in 2013, she dared the jump across the Atlantic and joined YFU USA’s Support Services team, which she has led since August 2015. Bienert holds a Masters in Psychology from the Georg August Universität Göttingen, Germany. She completed part of her studies at Aristoteles University in Thessaloniki, Greece and also completed internships in the fields of disability rights, mental health and rehabilitation, and neuropsychological research. Bienert speaks fluent German and English and has a basic knowledge of Greek.
